BOWLING AND TENNIS.
The Terrace End Bowling, Tennis and Croquet Club opened their season on Satui’day last. The weather was beautifully mild. The President (Mr J. J. O’Shea) extended a welcome to visitors who were representative of all the other clubs in Piilmerston N., besides Shannon and Feilding. He congratulated the green superintendent and the caretaker on the excellent condition of the playing areas, and made mention of the Club’s growing membership. It was intended to hold electric light bowling tournaments as last fear, and all bowlers were privileged to make use of the greens at night at the usual charge of (id per game. The club members are holding a pairs tournament on Labour Day, whilst the tennis section is holding a doubles tournament on the same day, which will be open to members of outside clubs as well. CROQUET SECTION. Subsequent to the opening of the bowling and tennis greens, the ladies of the croquet section assembled when the president declared the lawns open, and at the same time expressed his appreciation 'of the splendid assistance that the ladies had always given towards the prosperity of the club. He said he felt quite sure thatfbut for the croquet players, the club would not have been so progressive. Mr O’Shea wished the section a successful season.
