NEW METHOD OF PRODUCTION Blenheim, Last Night. A new process for the treatment of flax has been perfected by Mr T. Branton, Blenheim. It eliminates catching, washing, paddocking and scutching, and a feature is that the machine can be taken into a gully by a couple of men, and the flax treated where cut, the resultant fibre being carted out, thus avoiding the necessity for carting the green flax to a central mill. Mr Barton, in the interests of the industry, is prepared to place his process at the disposal of the Government, and Mr Wi. J. Girling, M.P., is forwarding to the Minister for Agriculture, samples of the fibre produced by the new method.
