WATER SUPPLY FOR THE BEACH.
INSPECTION BY WATER DIVINER.
At the last meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board it was decided to consider the proposition of providing an unlimited water supply at the Manawatu Heads for the use of the general public as under the existing conditions, there is generally a shortage of water from the house tanks at the Beach during the summer months. Yesterday, acting under instructions from the Board, a water diviner, Mr William Brogden, of Palmerston N., visited the Beach in search of a suitable place for the sinking of an artesian bore. A thorough inspection was made of the Beach, and a good stream was located near Perreau’s store, and flowing along the road towards Mr Thomas’s residence on the main road. Unfortunately no stream could be discovered in the locality of the swings where it is proposed to erect a tea* kiosk in the near future, and it was desired that a bore should be sunk.
It is probable, however, that a well will be sunk somewhere in the vicinity of Perreau’s store, and thus the Beach residents will be assured of an unlimited supply of water during the coming summer.
