THE LATE MOTHER MARY AUBERT.

TRIBUTE TO A GOOD WOMAN. Wellington, Yesterday. Wellington paid a tribute to a great woman on Tuesday. The many hundreds who attended the solemn pontifical Requiem Mass for the late Very Rev. Mother Mary Joseph Aubert, who died, on Friday afternoon last, and many thousands who lined the streets as the funeral cortege passed on its way to the cemetery at Karori, showed plainly how greatly they appreciated the wonderful work of mercy earned out by Mother Mary Aubert over so long a peiod of years. Long before 9 o’clock, St. Mary of the Angels Church in Boulcott Street was crowded, and there were many hundreds who were unable to enter for the service. Those present in the Church included the Chief Justice (Hon. 1 , C. P. Skerrett) Sir Robert Stout, Sir John Hosking, Sir Joseph Ward, Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M., Senior Magistrate at Wellington Mr M. F. Luckie (representing the Mayor of Wellington and the City Council) and Mr R. Tait, actting Town Clerk.

After the celebration of Mass, His Grace, Archbishop Redwood paid a glowing tribute to the memory of the departed lady, and' urged those present to strive to emulate the example which she had set.
