EDUCATIONAL.

PRESENTATION OF PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATES,

Mr J. K. Hornblow, member of the Education Board, on Tuesday presented the proficiency certificates to local primary school pupils, who had recently been promoted by the Board’s senior inspector. He congratulated the recipients- upon their success over a period of ten months, and wished them continued success in their studies in the secondary department. To obtain that success, he said, a little more of their spare time would have to he devoted to their studies and the sacrifice would he found worth while.' He looked forward to the time when a Foxton hoy would win honour and usefulness in the highest seats of learning. He felt sure the material was here and it only required developing along right lines. He said they had to justify the establishment of the secondary department and in this connection, he urged them to do their very best. He hoped before long they would have a suitable building to accommodate the secondary department.

Mr F. Mason, headmaster, on behalf of the school, thanked Mr Hornblow for his encouraging remarks.
