FIRE POLICE.
CORPS FORMED LOCALLY.
In his annual report to the Foxton Fire Board at the last meeting of that body, Inspector Hugo recommended the formation of Fire Police locally, and subsequently discussed the matter with the local members of the Board. As a result of this, Mr F. Woods tool-A the matter up with the result that a corps was formed, the membership list of which he submitted to the Foton Fire Board yesterday for approval, as follows: — Messrs D. Christie, Avenue Rd., F. Rimmcr, Purcell St.; R. Hornblow Thynne St.; G. Smith, Liddell St.; M. E. Perreau, Duncan St.; F. Woods, Russell St.; W. D. Bauckham, Park St."; F. G. Yeo, Whyte St.; J. Newton, Main St.; W. Trueman, Lady’s Mile;' R. Rangiheuea, Park St.; C. A. Pearson, Clyde St.; H. Potts, Norbiton Rd.; J. M». Barr, Thynne St. The membership list was approved.
The Chairman (Mr F. C. Cray) said it was very pleasing to see public men taking an interest in the Fire Police' Corps. Itt was very gratifying to see the fine public spirit existing in Foxton. He hoped, however, that the duties of the Corps would not be arduous. Foxton had seen too much of tires in the past. The question of providing badges for the fire police was left in the hands of the Chairman and Mr F. Woods.Mr F. Woods was appointed eaptaffi of the corps.' It was decided that the members of the corps be invited to attend the smoke concert to be held in December.
