COUNTRY 3 DEFEATS TOWN 2,

The match Town v. Country was played in Palmerston N. yesterday afternoon. In the first spell the country players had slightly the benefit, but town team showed admirable defensive tactics, and at half time the score stood at two goals each. I In the second spell, Town were on the defensive for the major part of the time, but they did not take advantage of many scoring opportunities, and failed to penetrate their opponents’ defence. The Country team added another goal to their tally, and the game ended with the score 3 —2 in favour of the Country team. Goals were scored by the following for the Country team: Misses Penny, Richardson, and Ransom and- by Misses W. Marden andjG. Wilton for Town. Messrs McDowell and Sharman controlled the game. The other) ladies’ match set down for play “C” reps. v. “D” reps, did not come off.
