THEFT AT MOUTOA MARKET GARDENS.
WJIARE BROKEN INTO
On their return to their whare at Moutoa after a day’s work at the Motuiti market gardens on Tuesday evening the employees of Chung Wall discovered that their whare had been broken into and two suits, two gold wristlet watches, money and various articles of wearing apparel to a total value of £35 had been stolen. They immediately communicated with Constable Owen. The same evening two Maori lads, absconders from Weraroa, Turemoana (Bruce) Moreiti and Hugh Symons, were arrested in Palmerston North on the arrival of Field’s express, and it is alleged that most of the stolen property was discovered in their possession. The lads had evidently gone to Shannon from Levin via Moutoa and it is alleged, burgled the whare en route, finally catching Field’s express at Shannon. Bruce Moreiti, aged 17, appeared at the Palmerston- North Police Court yesterday, before Mr. H. J. Canton J.P., on a charge that lie did abscond from the \\ eraroa training farm last Tuesday. The application for a remand until Monday was granted.
