ASSOCIATION
COMMITTEE ■ MEETING,
A committee meeting of the Foxton United Sports Association was held in the Racing Club’s office last evening presided over by the President (Mr. W. T. Jewell). Also present: S. Austin, R. Bryant, W. E, Barber, W. Jewell jnr., .J. Thomson, P. J. Jack, C. A. Pearson, D. Ogilvie, W l . Ross, D. Christie, S. Barber, G. Alexander and F. Rimmer (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs F. Mason, H. Hutchins, R. Hornblow and D. R. Barron.
A letter was received from the New Zealand Amateur Cycle Union advising that the club’s programme for the Labour Day motor cycle sports meeting had been proved, and also notifying that the application for the light-weight championship for 1927 had been voted. Two prices were submitted for providing music on sports day, and it vvas decided to accept the services of Larkins orchestra for the amount tendered, subject to tlfe provision of a suitable programme and number of musicians. .
A letter was also received from the AVanganui Motor Cycle Club, stating that it vvas intended to hold a reliability test to Wellington through Foxton, on October 2nd, and asking the Foxton Sports Association to assist by cheeking the riders as they pass through. — Agreed to. Mr. H. Hamer was appointed gate steward.
Only one tender was received in accordance with specification for catering, from Mrs J. Walls, and it was decided to accept this tender. The matter of disposing of correct cards was left in the hands ot the secretary and president.
Air. Jack reported that the lapboard vvas practically completed.
Messrs S. Austin and Chas. Simmons were accorded votes of thanks 'for assisting with the advertising of the forthcoming motor sports by the distribution of dodgers.
Air. Hepburn’s offer for supply of petrol for the meeting was accepted.
The matter of providing an ambulance for sports days was left in the hands of Air. G. Alexander. It vvas decided to present the cups won, on the day of the sports, just prior to the running of the consolation race.
Accounts amounting to £1 18s 6d were passed for payment. Matters of minor importance were discussed and the meeting terminated with the usual compliment to the chair.
