THE LATE MRS. ALEX SPEIRS, SENR.
The funeral of the late Mrs Alex. Speirs senr., took plaee on Sunday afternoon and was attended by people from alll parts of the district, desirous of paying a tribute of re speet to the memory of deceased. Prior to the cortege leaving deceased’s residence, a service was held in the home by the Rev. J. 11. Bredin, who also conducted the final rites at the graveside. The casket was covered with beautiful floral tributes. The pall-bearers were the Mayor (M. E. Perreau, Esq.), and Messrs J. K. Hornblow, Wm. Trueman (Town Clerk), Jas. M. Barr, R. Easton and L. Fowler. The whole of the family of the late Mrs Speirs, consisting of six sons and two daughters, are still alive. Since coming v from Wellington to Foxton 37 years ago, the family of Mr Speirs and his late wife, have not resided out of this district.
