FALSE PRETENCES ALLEGED.
TWO CHARGES OF USING VALUELESS CHEQUES. Hasting, August 26. Lionel Bishop was charged in the Magistrate’s Court this morning with intent to defraud. It Avas alleged that at Hastings on June 0 lie obtained from Bertram Alexander Hansen a motor ear valued at £SB, and oil and benzine valued at £2, by means of a valueless cheque for £6O and, further, that on August 19, at Marton, lie obtained £2 19/6 from Malcolm McConachie by means of a valueless cheque. On the latter charge accused pleaded not guilty, and Avas remanded to appear at Palmerston N. next Monday. On the former charge he also pleaded not guilty, and Avas committed for trial to the 'Supreme Court at Napier. Bail Avas alloAA’ed.
