CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Foxton Chamber of Commerce was held in Ross’s Rooms on Thursday night, presided over by Mr j. K. Hornblow (President). Also present Avere Messrs A. E. Admore, H. Hornbloiv, A. Alsop, D. Christie, R. MeMurray, M. E. Perreau, Yeo, Osborne, Corn and the secretary (Mr R. Hornblow). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs C. A. Pearson, F. Woods and F. Rimmer. CORRESPONDENCE AA’as read and dealt with as follows: From Mr A. C. Holms, secretary o'f the Levin-Marton Railway League, asking for payment of a promised donation towards meeting debts in connection with the’ League. —Decided to investigate the matter and remit the donation promised. From the Associated Chambers of Nciv Zealand, notifying the date of the annual conference, to be held in Wellington, on the 24th and 25th NoA’ember. —Received, delegate to be elected at next meeting. From L. T. Watkins Ltd., re advertising in the postal directories. — Received. NEW MEMBERS. The President extended a Avelcome to the Chamber to Messrs I. Corn and Yeo, tAvo neAV members. Messrs Yeo and Corn, in acknoAVledging the Aveleome, referred to the importance of the Chamber in fostering matters of commercial importance to the toAvn and district. Messrs W. E. Barber and Wm. Trueman Avere unanimously elected neAV members of the Chamber. MOTION OF SYMPATHY. Motions of sympathy Avere passed to Messrs F. Woods and B. G. Goaver in their recent bereavements. REMIT TO CONFERENCE. Mr Perreau moved that the following remit be forwarded to the annual conference: That the advertising section of the telephone directories be kept seperate from the directory proper and that the printing of directories be done by the Government printer.—Carried. LECTURETTE. OAving to counter attractions, the leetiirette to have been delivered by the President that night was postponed, the President (consenting to give a half hour’s talk on his travels abroad at the next meeting. Accounts amounting to £5 12/Avere passed for payment. The usual vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
