THE HEMP MARKET.
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.
The High Commissioner’s cable, dated the 21st hist., reads: Hemp Manila market continues firm. “J” grade, August-October and Septem-ber-November shipments sold at from £44 10s to £45. Sisal market quiet but steady, nominal value. No. 1 Tanganyika and Kenyal £43. New Zealand market firmer in sympathy with Manila and business has been done in high points at £37 10s, and fair £34 10s. Stocks in London on 31st July were 19 tons against 163 tons last year.
