MYSTERIOUS DEATH.

♦ , POLICE MAKING INQUIRIES. Christchurch, Yesterday. An inquest opened on Saturday into the death of Francis Sullivan, found on Friday evening lying in a pool of blood at the rear of the Excelsior Hotel. Evidence of identification only was given at the inquest, which was adjourned pending the result of a post mortem examination and police inquiries. It appears that the licensee found Sullivan in a dying condition, and beside him were splinters of broken glass. As a bathroom window directly above was broken, and as the broken glass beside Sullivan was similar in quality to that of the window, the asumption is that Sulli.van fell out of the window, rereceiving injuries 'which caused his death.
