UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION
A'committee meeting of the United Sports Association was held in the Racing Club office on Thursday night presided over by the President (Mr. W. T. Jewell). There was a good attendance of members pre sent. •• CORRESPONDENCE was read and dealt with as follows : From the Foxton Racing Club granting the Association the use of the racecourse for their next sports meeting.—Received with thanks. From the Citizens’ and Farmers’ Queen Committees requesting per? mission to bo allowed to canvass on the course on sports day.—Permission refused. The delegates to the N.Z.A.C.U., Messrs S. Austin and C. A. Pearson, reported on the»business transacted at the meeting of that body held in Napier recently. As a result it was decided to slightly amend the programme previously decided on. Including the value of cups donated, the prize monev for the next meeting totals £217. i . It was decided to procure a lap board at a price not to exceed £3O. The question of assisting the N.Z.A.C.U. financially with a reli- . ability test was held over in the meantime, it being decided to make endeavours to have the route of the test through Foxton. It was decided to make application for the middleweight championship next year and also to request that Foxton be again granted Labour Dav for its sports meeting in 1927. Messrs Austin and Pearson were accorded a vote of thanks for their comprehensive report on the N.Z.A.C.U. meeting. Donors of cups etc-., for the forthcoming meeting were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their generosity. Mr. Christie was authorised to obtain six balcony streamers for the meeting.
