IN BANKRUPTCY.
MEETING OF CREDITORS,
A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of John Percy Coyne, farmer, formerly of Bainessc, but now of Foxton, was held at Palmerston North yesterday afternoon at the office of the D.O.A. (Mr. C. E. Dempsy). The only persons present at this second meeting (the first having lapsed), were bankrupt and solicitor (Mr. Ongley), and Mr. W. J. Dew. In his statement, bankrupt stated that he was a married man with three children. Two had left school, but were not earning. Bankrupt did not keep books and all revenue went through the Bank of Australasia. The furniture had always been his. wife’s property. Bankrupt was now working for Mr. F. S. Easton and last month received £l4. In answer to Mx\ Dew, Coyne stated that he had only one horse, which he sold to one, O’Brien, of Dannevirke, for £5, its full value. He had brought twelve coavs to replace others sold to My. J. Legg, of Bainesse, but those bought had cost considerably more than those he had sold. He had never owned a car and that the one he had been driving was the property of a nepheiv. Bankrupt had signed a paper for Mr. Oakley, acting for Mr. Dew, to receive any money due to him by the New Zealand Dairy Union. There was nothing due at the time and Mr. Oakley had been informed of the fact. After that he had received £1 12s Id, Avliich he had kept for household necessaries andjhe cheque for the April milk, £l9 6s 3d, and this had been cashed to pay bills. He did not promise Mr. Oakley to send the cheque to him. 1 The meeting was they adjourned sine die.
