Christchurch, August 6,

Working by day with remarkable audacity a gang, believed by the detectives to be composed of expert crooks, the leader of whom is a woman, has been operating in Christchurch duirng the past week. The Central Police Station has received notification of several burglaries. With a motor-car in. its possession the gang is said to have been embracing a very wide area in its activities, but Avonside had been suffering particularly from its attentions, burglaries having been reported by three residents of River road.
