ENTERTAINMENTS.

ROYAL PICTURES,

The huge seas of Biscay thundering on the white sands of Biarritz; intimate glimpses of historic London; flic beauty of the north-west coast- of France, and the misty loveliness, the heather and hills of Scotland are all part of Marshall Ncilnn’s new Metro-Goldwyn production, “The Sporting Venus,” which will lie screened at the Royal Theatre this Friday. A picture of superlative entertainment, great charm and tremendous interest. Extra: “Samson of the Circus.” In “The Call of Courage;” Uni-versal-Blue Streak Western starring Art A cord, the star gives several daring exhibitions of his wonderful horsemanship. Acord is seen at his best in this great picture which was directed by Cliff Smith with sure-fire precision. To be screened on Saturday. “RECOMPENSE.” Robert Kcablcs widely discussed sequel to ‘“Simon Called Peter,” “Recompense,” will be seen at the Town Hall to-morrow, Friday, evening only. In “Recompense” the action shifts from the front to the Gay Paris of Armistice Day, and then to London and suddenly to the desolate miles of the veldts in Africa. Here Julie Gamelyn (Marie Provost) a nurse in the South African Brigade meets again with Peter Graham (Monte Blue), an Army Chaplain, and here the drama come to its poignant climax. With supporting films “Recompense” will be screened at popular prices, 1/- and 1/G, children Gd and 9d.

“The King of Wild Horses,” Saturday’s special feature is said to be the most amazing and unique drama ever filmed. The leading role is played by Rex, a wild stallion untamable until rescued by man in a great forest fire. Edna Murphy and Leon Barry play romantic leads.
