FOXTON RESIDENTS ABROAD.
Letters from Mr. and Mrs A. Fraser received locally by the last English mail, stated that the voyage to England on board the “Corinthic” had been a most enjoyable one. Everything possible was done to ensure the comfort and ease of the passengers and concerts, dances and card parties were almost nightly occurrences. Several fancy dress dances were held at which prizes were given and on these occasions the ship was beflagged and decorated with streamers and a multitude of coloured electric lights. The whole scene being very attractive and quite in keeping with ball-room decorations as seen in most towns. At Pitcah'n Island the “Corinthic” anchored off-shore and the islanders come off to the ship with their boats loaded! witlj'fruits, which were soon sold among the passengers. The residents of the Island also procured some stores from the vessel before it continued its voyage. When the vessel arrived at the Panama Canal, passengers were allowed ashore at both Panama and Colon and the time there was pleasantly spent in sight-seeing. At the time of writing Mr. and Mrs Fraser were both well and were spending a few days in London, prior to going to Scotland.
