WHIEBAIT SEASON LIMIT.
“A LOT OF ROT.”
The Canterbury Acclimatisation Society passed a proposal at its last meeting to prohibit wdiitebait fishing after the end of November.. The Christchurch fish retailers are evidently not afraid of the proposal. “If such restrictions are imposed it will not materially affect us,” said one, “but the fishermen will have their living affected. I do not think the proposal will be entertained by the Minister, to whom the society will have to make their appeal.” “The proposal is a lot of rot, and comes from a one-eyed society that can see nothing but trout,” he said in conclusion.
