The above senior grade contest took place on the racecourse on Saturday and proved a walk-over for County as the scores indicate. In fact the locals provided a practice game for County. After some delay the locals went on to the held with 12 men, six of whom were seniors and the rest consisted of juniors and third-grade players. The full team was subsequently made up by the veteran Hutchins, Carter and Pine.

Shortly after the start County (blue) attacked and Huff was found wanting and W. Hiwi got over. The kick was a failure—County 3, Foxton 0. Huff successfully stopped another onslaught and found the line at centre. Taylor following • his own kick beat the blue backs and scored, but the kick from a difficult angle was abortive —County 3, Foxton 3. Foxton set up another attack which was spoilt by off-side play and shortly after Cunnighame forced. A fine passing movement by blues was stopped by Procter, but shortly after Huff mulled and Ransfield scored an easy try — County 6, Foxton 3. It was not long before McDonald got over and the try was converted —County 11, Foxton 3. Moses, Taylor and Fuller indulged in a fine passing bout, but the blue defence was safe. Andrews was called upon to retire for using unbecoming language and the spell ended —11 —3. The second spell-saw some tine confcined play by the blues, which kept yellows busy on the defence. A spectacular passing movement by the blues ended in T. Parata scoring. County 14 —Foxton 3. Hirini, Fuller, McDonald, Moses and Taylor were kept busy in countering the blue attacks and Moses was conspicuous by a fine solo effort. Parata added another try, and a few minutes later. Dunn followed suit- bringing County’s score to 20 —3. McDonald was the next to add 3 points for blues —23 3, and from another loose rush Dunn again scored, 26 —3. Foxton put in a final rally and Moses set the yellows going and a fast follow on by Cunningham ended in his crossing the line, the game (concluding, County 2fi, Foxton 0.
