MAY WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during the month of May was 360,700 ft., which with the amount in the holder on May Ist 17,G00ft., made a total of 378,300 ft. During the month 310,900 ft. were used by consumers, 21,000 ft. at the works and there was IG,Booft. in the holder on June Ist, making a total of 348,700 ft., and leaving 29,600 ft., representing 8.1 ner cent, unaccounted for. Thirty-two tons of coal was carbonised, yeilding 11,212 c.ft. of gas to the ton and producing 7 tons 8 cnvt of coke. The earnings for the month totalled £lB7 4s Id and were made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting) £47 18s Bd, heat and power £93 12s Od, coke sales £3O 8s 4d, tar sales £l, fittings £8 Is 3d, miscellaneous £4 10s lOd, weighing £ll3s. The expenditure for the month totalled £216 17s lid and was made up as follows. —Coal £BB 2s 4d, wages £43 9s 4d, fittings £4 12s 2d, tools £5 17s 7d, engine repair, oil 19/11, repairs £1 4s 3d, meters £7 12s 9<l, cartage and freight £4 18s 7d, working exs. 9/4, interest and sinking fund £59 11s Bd. The gas manager reported that the small gas engine at the works had now been repaired and was working satisfactorily. During the monlh one new cooker and one water heater were fitted for the District High School. A good many services were cleaned out and two partly renewed. There is a supply of coal on hand to last for several months. The demand for coke is good.— Adopted.
