WHITE NEW ZEALAND.
COUNCIL SUPPORTS LEAGUE’S RESOLUTION. Last night a letter was received by the Foxton Borough Council from the' White New Zealand League asking for support in obtaining legislation for the prevention of Asiatics coming into the Dominion: Each of the Councillors had also been privately circularised on the matter. Cr. McMurray said the Council should support the League with the exception that races which were British subjects should not lie debarred from coming into the country. Cr. Thompson: That complicates matters. The Chinese in Hong Kong are British subjects and that will prove a getaway for any others. After a general discussion it was considered that the League knew more about the matter than the Council and the resolution was supported.
