OBITUARY.

MV. P. E. Woods, of Whakatane, died suddenly last Thursday week from heart failure. The evening previous he was playing in an orchestra and was apparently in good health. The deceased was aged 45 years and was a brother of Mr. F. Woods, of Foxton. The late Mr. Woods was well-known-in Palmerston musical circles some years ago, where he formed and for some years conducted the Municipal Band. Upon removing from Palmerston to Knponga, he formed and conducted a hand there and since his residence in W|hakatane he took an active interest in musical circles there. He was recognised as one of the leading solo cornetisls in the Dominion. He leaves a widow and family of three sons and two daughters to mourn their loss.
