YOUNG' MAN AS LADY.
THRASHED BY YOUTHS AT DANCE.
The story is being told of a young man of Auckland who, last week, essayed the role of a female impersonator when he attended a dance, states the Star. The .result of this impersonation led to unpleasant happenings of which more is likely to be heard.
The young man “made up” remarkably well, and so much so that be was asked to sit out an interval by a youth at the dance, who actually imagined the impersonator to be one of the fair sex. This youth later told his friends that he had found a “great girl” and a “stunning sport,” and another immediately asked “her” to sit out with him. When, after a short spell in a rendezvous, lie found that “she” was not a she and he became so annoyed that he administered a severe thrashing. His friends, failing to see the joke, also laid heavy hands on the unfortunate impersonator, who was so much hurt that it .was found necessary to take him home and put him to bed. He now ponders over the episode from beneath blankets, but it is understood that the matter is to be taken a step further when the impersonator recovers from the assault of the disappointed “lovers.”
