The boxing match between Jamil o and Elmour, which was to have taken place at the De Luxe Theatre Levin, on Monday next, has been postponed until August 4. The secretary of the AVednesday Tradesmen’s Football Club has received word that a team from Palmerston North will meet them on the racecourse next AVednesday afternoon.

At Tuesday’s meeting of the AA'anganui Presbytery special mention was made by members to the good work done by the Rev. F. and Mrs McDonald during the former’s ministry in this parish and the wish was expressed for his success ni Pallia tua.

The Levin Corps of the Salvation Army celebrated the thirty-se-cond anniversary of the opening of its work in Levin last Sunday lind Monday. Among those who contributed to Monday night’s programme were Mr. Tong and Master and Miss Tong, of Foxton.

During the past season, the output of butter from the Shannon Co-operative Dairy Co.’s factory was 741 A tons, which is a slight decrease on the previous season’s output, this being brought about by the bad conditions during the spring. Nevertheless the company have had a most successful season.

In the Auckland Court on Tuesday, David William Cutler Cooper, aged 22, was charged with forging the name of W. E. Barnes to a Post Office Savings Bank withdrawal slip for £3OO. He was remanded until July 19. Accused arrived from Sydney escorted from Melbourne, where he was arrested on warrant. At the Christchurch Court on Tuesday, C. T. Mosley, a wellknown public accountant, was charged with receiving £3OO from a client of Seafield, Ltd., and fraudulently omitting to pay the same. The police said the total thefts amouned to £IBOO, of which accused had refunded £OOO. He was remanded to the 20th, bail in self of £SOO and one surety of £SOO, being allowed.

The death took place at Feilding on Sunday of Mrs W. Fletcher, an old and greatly respected resident of Bulls and Feilding.. Mrs Fletcher, in company with her husband and family, was amongst the earliest band of settlers in the Feilding district, coming out to New Zealand in the “La Hogue” in 1874, under the Manchester Corporation, and moving to Bulls in 1870. The deceased was 87 years of age, and of eight children, six still survive. An Elthani case, arising out of a motor smash' near Eltham on June 5, was heard in the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, when Frank Kemp, taxi-proprietor, was fined £5 for driving an unregistered car, £5 for driving a car with an unassigned number, and £5 for being intoxicated while in charge of a car. Kemp’s license was cancelled, and h© was disqualified from holding a license for three years.

John Blair, apparently aged between 55 and (it) years, was found drowned in the Otauru stream at the Sheehan street crossing _at Shannon on Tuesday morning. Messrs. Haley and Butt, who were carting metal from the stream, made the discovery. It is understood deceased has relatives in Johusonville, whether he arrived in Shannon on Monday, with the intention of going to Magahao in search of a job. He, however, missed the ’bus and remained in town, where he was last seen alive at about 7 o’clock in the evening. The body had apparently been in the water for about 8 or 9 hours.
