CAUGHT REDHANDED.
MAN IN HOTEL BEDROOM. Auckland, July 12. In the early hours of Sunday morning, Mr Cueksey, proprietor of the Prince Arthur Hotel, was awakened and saw a man in the corner of his bedroom where lie kept his clothes. The intruder fled downstairs with Mr Cueksey in hot pursuit to the end of a passage, where the latter tackled bis man and threw him down. A boarder and the night porter arrived and took charge of the prisoner until the police took him in charge. Mr Cuckscy’s clothes had been ransacked. Andrew Robert Mclntosh, aged 24, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court with being a rogue and a vagabond, and being unlawfully on the premises of the Prince Arthur Hotel and stealing £3 15/-," belonging to Mr Cueksey. He was sentenced to six months imprisonment on the first charge and to three months on the second. The sentences to be concurrent.
