BOROUGH COUNCIL.
MEETING LAPSES FOR WANT OF QUORUM. Probably for the first time in the municipal history of Foxton the monthly meeting of the Borough Council, to have been held last night, lapsed for want of a quorum. The Mayor (Mr. M. E. Perreau). was unable to attend owing to indisposition as was Cr. Walker. Cr. Woods was unable to he present owing to the death of his brother, and Cr. Thompson was away on holiday. Cr. Cowley is on leave of absence. Consequently only four eqncillors were present, Crs McMurray, Rand, Parkin and Wjinstanjey. Cr. McMurray was voted to the chair. A deputation, introduced by Cr. Rand, and consisting of Messrs J. J. Madden and Calder, presented the Council with a petition praying that a footpath he placed on the south side of Union Street. Cri' McMurray said that the matter would have the consideration of the Council atr its next meeting as they were, unable to-take any business that night. The. deputation thanked the Councillors for their attention, and withdrew.
