PLUNKET SOCIETY.

The monthly meetng was held in the Pluket office on Monday afternoon. Those present were Mesdames F. McDonald (in the chair), C. Pearson, R. Rangiheuea, D. Christie, J. Chrystall, F. Rimmer, A. Baker, F. Proctor, A. Stevenson, R, McMurray, lion. sec. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames F. Robinson, A. Ross and D. R. Ban-on. The Nurse’s report showed: — Visits to Foxton 3, to homes 6, adults to office 37, children 35, new cases 4, letters and notices 11. A donation of £2 2s Od was received from the Foxton Chamber of Commerce for which a vote of thanks was accorded the Chamber. A donation of 5/- was also received from A Friend.

Correspondence was read from the Palmerston North branch re appointing a delegate to the general conference, to be held in Wellington from 27th to 30th July. Mrs R. McMurray was appointed to represent this sub. branch. Accounts amounting to £2 17s 3d were passed for payment. Mrs McDonald welcomed Mesdames A. Stevenson and R. Rangiheuea, new members of committee, and also Mrs A. Bake,r who has been absent from meetings for some time through illness. Mrs McMurray, on behalf of the committee, tendered to Mrs McDonald, vice-president, who is shortly leaving Foxton, the committee’s thanks and appreciation of her work on the committee during the past four years. They regretted her departure and wished her health and happiness in her new home. Mrs McDonald briefly returned thanks and said it had been a pleasure to work on the committee. She regretted she had been unable to do more. Mrs Stevenson was appointed flower steward and Mesdames Trueman and Christie visitors for the month.

The proceeds of Mr I. Corn’s weighing machine amounted to 7/3. room contributions 7/1.
