Always clean a silver-backed brush before it is washed, or some of the plate powder may afterwards get into the bristles. Jewellers’ rouge makes a fine polish for tortoiseshell. Ivory inclined to yellowness, is amenable to cut-lemon treatment, which successfully bleaches it.
