Suet that has become hard and stale can be made fresh and useable by placing in boiling water for a few minutes.

Let steak lie in strong bicarbonate of soda water 10 minutes before frying. This makes it very tender.

To keep milk sweet, add a teaspoonful of fine salt to every quart of milk.

When using soda, sift it with the flour. Dissolving in water causes the gas to eeape and reults will not be so good. To be digestible, batters and doughs must be light and porous. Suet in flour mixtures makes the dough light and tender. Thin pancake batter or batter containing sugar and eggs requires more fgt for frying than bread dough pancakes or scones. For cementing a celluloid article use a cement made of one drachm camphor, loz. shellac and 2oz. methylated spirits. It is a good plan if you are buying a new kitchen coal shuttle to get a carpenter to cut a piece of wood to fit the bottom. This saves the scuttle tremendously, and it lasts far longer than if used as it is. The wood once cut can be used indefinitely. To improve and age the life of leather upholstery ; and prevent cracking, use one.part of best vinegar and tw T o of boiled linseed oil. Apply with a soft rag, then polish with a silk duster or chamois leather. Do this weeklv.

Keep eggs for cooking in a wire basket. The basket is light to carry, and one can see how many eggs are on hand without taking the basket off the shelf. They are in less danger of breaking also, than in a box or tin pail. To clean a bread bag.—Rub it gently with breadcrumbs, then brush off the crumbs, which will bring all the dust away too. Warm the bread first.

To clean leather. —Mix equal quantities of boiled cold linseed oil and vinegar, and clean the leather with a few. drops on soft flannel, polishing off with soft rubbers.
