JEALOUSY LEADS TO CRIME.
Dunedin, June 28. Knowing" that a woman with whom lie had been keeping company was receiving letters from a man in America, lOrnesl Rasmussen forged a redirection order, so that the letters would come to his hands. Rasmussen pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court this morning to a charge arising out of this action, and was committed for sentence. The woman, Vivienne Beady, married, hut separated from her lmslmmh staled that she had known accused for three years. She had received linancial help from him. Accused's statement was that he knew the woman got letters from America. ITo was jealous and so put in a redirection order. Had he got any letters he would have sent them to her after getting the information he wanted. Counsel for accused commented on the fact that a Magistrate had not power to deal with a case like this, where there was no motive of material- gain, yet he could deal with like *-asos where there was intent to defraud.
