THE NEW TOWN HALL.
In continuation of our comments in previous issues re the above, we have heard the questions asked: “If these large profits have been made what has [been Id one with them?” and “why is there not more than £3BOO available towards ibo new hall, the old building being insured for £4000?” The total rental returned dining the past four years amounted to £1894. This is accounted for as follows: — Expended on old hall. —

At the same time the improvement effected to the temporary hall will he made good use of in the future. Furthermore, there must also he taken into account (lit! fact that flic insurable value of tlio old hall was £4OOO, so that the actual value would he in the vicinity of £5,500, the difference of course having to he written off ns losses hy fire. In our next issue we will summarise the position.
