RUGBY DISTRICT COUNCIL.
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the HoroWhenua District R-ugby Council met at Levin on Tuesday, Mr. J. J. O’Connor presiding. Also present —Messrs Winiata (selector), Austin, Procter, Braun, Lynch, McDonald, Rimmer, Robinson, Neville, Emmett (Referees Association). Hannan, Robson, and Casey. Four weeks leave of absence was granted Air. Anderson. The Foxton Club sought amelioration of the sentence of losing four playing Saturdays imposed on one of its players for appearing on the Held in an intoxicated condition. It pointed out that this was his tirst offence, and lie had already forfeited Iwo matches. “It can’t he done,” said the chairman. Mr. Hannan said lie thought the sentence meted out was rather harsh, in view of the comparatively light sentence recently imposed on a Tokomarn player. Mr. Austin also spoke in support of- the player. The letter was received, no action being taken in regard to lifting die sentence. HAAVIKE’S BAY REVOKE. Hawke’s Bay Union advised that it would play Manawhenua at Palmerston North on 7th August. This ni langcmcnt, they stated, was made with the Horowlienua delegate, thereby fiddling the arrangement made last season. Furthermore, the merger of Horowlicnua with Manawatu prevented ITawkes Bay from playing ITorowhenua separately. Air. Procter considered that this Union should again try and secure a match with Hawkes Bay. The match had been promised and they should fulfil their obligation. The secretary was instructed to write to this effect. MANAWHENUA REFEREE. Air. E. Bevan lias been appointed to control the rep. game on Saturday, June 19th, when Horowlienua anil Manawatu meet on the Levin Domain.
