SOME DETAILS AND COMPARISONS.

In order to supplement the informal ion already made public in regard io the Town Hall, we publish herewith some facts which will he of general interest. The new Hall will occupy the same floor area as the old one. The dress circle has been re-de-signed so as to allow every seat to face (lie stage. The circle seating accommodation has been increased from 218 to 272. The seats which it is proposed to instal are of the latest design, giving ample width, and will be upholstered in automobile leather of exceptional durability, harmoniously toned, in colour with the interior decorations.. The operating box will be specially constructed to conform to the requirements of the Government inspectors. The seven iron columns supporting the dress circle in the old hall will be superseded by one column only in the centre of the circle, the view of the stage from downstairs being much improved. The abolition of these pillars will be appreciated by dancers. By re-arranging the dressing rooms on the stage an additional 25 feet has been added to the auditorium, the seating capacity downstairs being increased from 482 to 072. The total seating accommodation is thus 050 against 700 in the old hall. By abolishing the intermediate room known as “the servery” in the supper room, the seating accommodation in this room has been increased. The kitchen will be more conveniently fitted up and every facility provided for expeditiously catering for suppers, socials etc. An extra window will lie fixed in (he ticket office io cope with the business at rush hours, and improvement are being incorporated into the refreshment shop. The ladies dressing and cloak rooms will also be greatly improved and better lighted. Although not involving any appreciable expense we are confident that a pleasant surprise is in store' for the townspeople when the new hall is opened. In next issue we will deal with some financial aspects.
