FARMERS’ UNION.
MONTHLY MEETING OF EXECUTIVE.
Mr. O. P. Lynch, presided over the monthly meeting of the Manawatu Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union on Saturday. There were also present : Messrs J. A. McLeavey, F. Maul, O. G. Dear, B. J. Gower, 11. McLeavey, H. Bond, T. D. Clifford, C. Higginson, and L. H. McAlpine, Dominion organiser. Mr. J. A. McLeavey returned thanks for election as vice-presi-dent at the annual meeting. The chairman reported upon the recent Provincial Conference, held at Wjanganui. In that collection, AH'. 11. Bond regretted that certain matters affecting the dairying industry had been passed over. That was not fair. The chairman explained that the reason was that the remits referred to were so controversial at the present time, when the matter of control was in the air. It was thought better to let sleeping dogs lie. “It was not a question of disregarding the dairy farmers,” added Mi'. Lynch. Mr. Bond: My impression of Wanganui was that it was a sheepbreeders' conference. The chairman: It is silly to talk like that. The dairy farmers could out vote the sheepmen by ten to one if they only joined up with their branches. —M.D. Times.
