GIRL BECOMES INTOXICATED. FOLLOWED BY MOTOR ACCIDENT. Dunedin, Last Night. The United Temperance Reform Council has passed a resolution that the Council draws the attention of the Premier, Attorney-Gen-eral, and Minister o_f Justice to the facts disclosed in the Dunedin Police Court proceedings, in which it was disclosed that a girl of 18 years of age, with two other women and a man, were taken into hotel premises by a boarder at 11.30 p.m., the party being supplied with cocktails and champagne. The girl being persuaded to drink, became intoxicated; the party not leaving the hotel till 1.30 a.m. Negligent driving resulted in a collision between the motor car and a telegraph post, with serious injury to the girl, whose father was unaware that she Avas supplied with liquor in this fashion. The Council protests against licensing laAvs permitting such occurrences, and requests their alteration, particularly that no liquor be supplied or sold during hours Avhen the bar is closed.
