SOCCER.

FLOCK HOUSE v. FOXTON.

The above teams met on Saturday at Flock House in windy weather. Foxton, winning the spin of the coin, elected to play with the wind behind them. Right from the start they made for their opponents’ goal, but it was not until 13 minutes had gone before they sueeeded in scoring through Coulson. The Flock House boys put up a game stand against the wind, and kept their opponents from adding to their score for the next 15 minutes when Coulson registered number two for his side. Flock House were defending very well, their kicking against the elements was a real treat. Shortly before the interval 11. Pedersen again added to the score. Foxton 3 Flockhouse 0. Without leaving the field the players changed over when Flockhouse started in earnest and kept the Foxton defenders busy keeping them at bay. Twenty minutes elapsed before they opened then scoring. The goal seemed to give them some coux’age and they still kept the opponents on the defensive. Heavy rain was now falling and the wind had increased to a gale. They kept plodding on however till 35 minutes had gone when Flockhouse got their second goal, to be followed ten minutes after by a third. Both teams now being level. Foxton came away in great style and a few tries at goal unsuccessfully till P. Pedersen passsd out the ball to MeKnight who made good speed for goal and centred the ball at the right moment. Coulson got possession and drove hard and true into the net. Foxton 4, Flockhouse 3. -Flockhouse have a well balanced team, their combination being perfect. All are true sports and they never know when they are beaten. Special mention should be made of their inside left who is probably the best in that position in the Manawatu Centre. Foxton players showed much improvement on the day’s play. Teams were as follows: I lockhouse: Hindman, Cheeant snr., R. Smith, Cheeant jnr., Mulroome, Marrerie, Spence, Healey, Lemon and Stewart and Jones. Foxton. Hinds, Crowe, Ferric, Lloyd, P. Pedersen, Wilby, MeKnight, H. Pedersen, Coulson, G. Mounsey and Taylor. Referee Mr. Johnstone. Foxton meet li.S.A. at Palmerston on Saturday.
