RANGIOTU HERD TESTING ASSOCIATION.

LOCAL COMMITTEE MEET. The local committee of the Rangiotu Herd Testing Association met in the Council Chambers on Saturday evenng. Mr. W. E. Barber was elected to the chair and there were also present Messrs. F. Woods, Wm. Ross, Furdon, P. W. Brown, and Davey. Messrs Gimblett, Ferguson and Legg (secretary) were also in attendance from Rangiotu. The Rangiotu members placed before the local committee suggestions in favour of the appointing of an organising secretary for the Association. They advocated the extending of the Association to include groups from as far north as the Pohangina. Valley and as far south as Levin. If the Association wished to retain its individuality it would have to expand. Mr. Ferguson pointed out that there was no fear of the proposed extensions making the Association too unwcildy. In the Waikato one Association was testing 62,000 cows. Mr. Gimblett said that it was essential that the price per cow for testing he kept down. He suggested that an executive be formed consisting of one representative from each group. At present there were only four groups in the Association. The idea was to increase this to 25 groups of 1500 cows each. It was considered that the cost would not be more than 3d per cow. The matter was well discussed and it was decided not to come to any definite decision until after the annual meeting, to be held this week. The balance-sheet for this group showed a credit balance of £37 Is sd. The question of becoming a registered body was also discussed, but no decision was arrived at. Mr. Jacobs is drawing up the articles of Association which are to he submitted to the annual meeting next week. Business of minor importance was dealt with and the meeting terminated with votes of thanks to the Rangitou delegates and the chair.
