HOCKEY.
The 1.920 hoe-key season was officially opened at Palmerston North on Wednesday when two seven-a-side tournaments were conducted hv the Manawatu Hockey Association. Foxton put in one team in A Division and although defeated in every game they put up an excellent fight and some good play was witnessed. The results of the games the local girls played in are as follows: — A DIVISION. First round. —Pahiafua A defeated Foxton by one point, Miss Fleming hitting behind in the extra lime allowed for decision. Second round. —-Rongolea defeated Foxton by a goal, Miss M. Sexton scoring on time. Third Pound. — Oliakea defeated. Foxton by a goal, Miss Cl. Hobbs net ling late in flic sceond spell. Fourth round. —W.E.0.0. defeated Foxton 2—o. Misses E. Jones and E. Morgan being the goalgetters. Fifth round. —Haleombe defeated Foxton by a goal scored by Miss M. Clapham. The Division final resulted in W.E.0.0. turning the tables, to win bv a goal registered by Miss M. Newth.
