THE GIRL GUIDES.
Some weeks ago a number of girls approached one of our local teachers and asked if she would help them to start a Girl Guide company. This she consented to do and already about thirty names have been handed in for enrolment. The aim and object of the movement is to develop good citizenship among girls by forming character and inculcating loyalty and thoughtfulness for others. It is hoped that Lady Dalrymple, who is at present in New Zealand, in the interest of the Girl Guides, will be able ot visit Foxton within the next few weeks and address the girls and all interested in the movement. A committee of ladies has been set up, with Mrs Frank Robinson as vice-Presideut, to generally supervise and encourage the movement and they will work in conjunction with the Palmerston Association. It has been decided to hold a shop day on Saturday, May 15th, to raise funds for the purpose of providing uniforms for the girjs.
