CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY.
PROHIBITED MAN AND CONSTABLE. Charles Nelson received something in the nature of a surprise one evening last month. The craving for a stimulating larynx lubricant after ten months of a prohibition order tempted him to the rear of the Manawatu Hotel in search of the amber liquid. Accosting the first man lie came across lie solicited a drink, but, unfortunately, the man'proved to be Constable Owen. Upon realising his mistake, Nelson decamped into the night. Such was the story related by Constable Owen in the S.M. Court yesterday to Mr. .J. L. Stout, S.M., when Nelson was charged with being illegally on the licensed premises of the Manawatu Hotel on the night of March 20th, and also with a breach of his prohibition order. He was convicted and fined 10/- and costs 7/- on each charge.
