AMATEUR CYCLING CLUB FORMED.
ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING. A meeting of those interested in amateur cycling was held on Thursday evening. Mr. M. E. Perreau was voted to the chair and there was a good attendance. On the motion of Mr. G. Coley, jnr., seconded by Mr. Leaky, it was decided that an amateur cycling club be formed and that the name of the club be the “Foxton Amateur Cycling Club.” The election of officers resulted as follows: — Patron: J. Linklater, Esq., M.P.; President: M. E. Perreau, Esq.; vice-presidents: Messrs G. F. Smith, AV. Kirkland, W;. E. Barber, .T. K. Hornblow, R. Bryant, Bullard, ■J. Desmond, D. Christie, and 11. Hutchins; secretary: Mr. P. Little; committee: Messrs G. F. Smith, P. J. Jack, E. Murphy, C. Billings, P. Little, AYalls, Coley, Huff and E. Parkin; auditor: E. Jackson; delegate : C. Billings. It was decided that the membership fee be 2/6. Mi'. G. F. Smith and the secretary were authorised to open an account in the Bank of New Zealand on behalf of the Club. It was decided to run three road races on June 3rd., the distances to be five miles, three miles and one mile respectively. It was resolved that the Club colours be yellow and black. Messrs AValis, Billings, Coley and Little were elected a committee to draw up rules for the club, to be submitted to a general meeting, to be held at an early date.
The meeting terminated with the usual compliment to the chair.
