HOCKEY.

PALMERSTON NORTH AAAE.O.G. 4 v. FOXTON 0. The local ladies’ hockey club opened the season with a match against W T est End (Palmerston’s last year champions) on Easton Park yesterday. After a very intcreting game the visitors succeeded in defeating the local team by 4 to nil. Play was very fast in both spells although Foxton slackened during the second half. Palmerston only scored one goal during the first spell and 'found great difficulty in penetrating the -local goalie’s defence. In this respect Airs Arcus played a great game. Misses R. Barber and Gordon stood out well for the local team and the team as a whole is to he complimented on Us play. Mr. Scott of Palmerston North controlled the game.
