IN BANKRUPTCY.
1 NATIVE FILES PETITION. A meeting of creditors of Jack Kauri, aboriginal native, of Bainesse, called for Monday, was attended by only bankrupt and his solicitor (Mr. Merton). Bankrupt was duly sworn, and in reply to questions by the D.O.A. (Mr. C. E. Dempsy) stated that he had never possessed horses, nor had he bought any from Messrs Barber and Renton. He denied that he had been offered £BO for two geldings by F. Easton. He had never owned any drays, carts or harness. He had undertaken .flaxcutting contracts, but his father had carried out the carting, the horses and carts belonging tp different porous. One team of four horses, jdray and harness, hired by his father, had belonged to H. Tiaki.
The D.O.A. at this stage announced that he would adjourn the meeting sine die.
