DANGEROUS BENDS.

DISCUSSED BY COUNCIL.

The question of improvement to the two corners at the north entrance to the town (one at the end of Park St. and the other at the Russell St. corner) have been continually to the fore for some time owing to numerous accidents that have occurred in the locality. At last night’s meeting of the Borough Council, a letter was received from the secretary of the Manawatu Automobile Association, asking the Council to give attention to these two bad corners, (one at the corner of Park St. and the other at the top of Russell St.). — The Mayor said that a good deal of money had already been spent on these corners and they were now comparatively safe. There were many worse bends than these throughout the country. Cr. McMurray said the corners were quite safe to anyone keeping within the speed limit. Cr. Cowley was of op-, inion that the lupins at the points referred to should be cleared away. The Mayor said that the business people of Foxton did not want to see the road at the top end of Russell street straightened. The letter was received.
