SCANDALOUS WASTE OF PUBLIC MONEY.

It was reported at Wednesday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council that since the installation of the punt at Shannon to cope with the traffic requirements pending the erection of the new bridge, expenditure of £2077 has been entailed by the contributing bodies, and of which the Manawatu County Council’s share is £519 ss. The opinion was expressed that the delay in the erection of the new structure was proving expensive and the expedition of the work was most essention.
