TE WHARAU TRAGEDY.
POLICE OPINION POINTS
TO MURDER
Dargaville, Yesterday. The Te Wharau tragedy inquest concluded. Nothing much more was disclosed excepting that the boy Nathan had some few days, before the tragedy had trouble with his aunt, Mrs Te Huia. It was also stated he had often shown signs of bad temper and was unduly familiar with deceased.
The police and detective, giving evidence were of opinion it was clearly a case of murder and suicide.
The Coroner returned a verdict that Elizabeth Maisie Te Huia died of shock as a result of a gunshot wound, such wound being inflicted by her nephew. Whether the wound was inflicted wilfully or accidentally there is not sufficient evidence to show. Teddy Nathan’s death was due to shock and laceration of the brain as a result of a gunshot wound apparently self inflicted.
