RACECOURSE FOR RUGBY.

At the annual meeting of the local Rugby Football Club Mr. Fred Robinson made a strong appeal for centralising games on the racecourse. He said the club was fortunate in getting such excellent grounds to play on at comparatively no cost, for if the union paid 5 per cent, of the gates to the Racing Club that body would generously use such revenue for improving the grounds. Further, they had enough room there, for two or three playing fields. If, he said, Easton Park was to be used, as more central, then junior games should be played there; to encourage junior players.

Mr. Smith said from a business man’s point of view, Easton Park brought the crowd into the town. The president pointed out that the union arranged the playing areas and this matter would be dealt with at a later date.
