RAILWAY GANGER KILLED.

Stratford, March 13

Some time last evening a railway gang er named John O’Callaghan was killed at a railway crossing between Stratford and Midhurst. The body was found this morning in a poof of the line. Deceased, apparently, was riding on a jigger and was struck by the north bound mail train, which was running late. Heavy rain was falling at the time. The engine-driver knew nothing of the accident. The body was carried 15 feet and the jigger about nine feet beyond that. O’Callaghan was a widower. His brothers live in Southland. He has a son, who, when last heard of, was at Riverton.
